Obama phew4/1/2023 ![]() It does not belong to someone who has not done anything.Īlfred Nobel stipulated in his will in 1895 that the peace prize should go "to the person who shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between the nations and the abolition or reduction of standing armies and the formation and spreading of peace congresses." The Nobel Peace Prize belongs to people and organizations who have worked long and hard for peace in this world. It is very upsetting to see the Nobel Peace Prize wasted on false hope and zero accomplishments. Three decades! Obama hasn't even been in office for a full year yet! You've never heard of him? He was the 2008 Nobel Peace Prize winner "for his important efforts, on several continents and over more than three decades, to resolve international conflicts." I will tell you someone who well deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, Martti Ahtisaari. Giving speeches and hoping for global cooperation is all fine and dandy, but what the Nobel Prize Committee forgot were two simple, old sayings: "Talk is cheap" and "You talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?" Seems we have two Obamaniacs on our hands here that latched on to the only two words of the Obama campaign trail, "HOPE" and "CHANGE." The Prize is honoring an expression of aspirations for peace, rather than the achievement of it?" Mark Knoller, CBS News White House correspondent, states that "this is a Prize meant as an expression of hope that President Obama's speeches and policy statements will translate into actual accomplishments. ![]() He's flown around the world, given some speeches, met with world leaders, but how is that any different from what the former Presidents have done?Īccording to Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee, Obama has captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. The world was even more surprised than he was because he hasn't accomplished anything concrete. ![]() President Obama was both "surprised and deeply humbled" on receiving news of the award. If the Norwegian Nobel Committee thinks Obama's extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples earns him the Nobel Peace Prize, then they are sorely mistaken. Seriously, Norway? You're given the honor of selecting people around the world every year for one of the highest recognitions a human can achieve and you give the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama, who has been in office not even nine months. Let's all toast to his Nobel Peace Prize to accomplishing peace with Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Russia, Israel, Palestine, North Korea, (phew, should I keep going?) and most importantly with the American people. Let's all roll up our sleeves, grab a beer and join him in the Rose Garden of the White House for a celebration of his momentous accomplishments. Obamaniacs rejoice, for your forsaken prophet, the false prophet and worldwide celebrity known more for style than substance, has won the Nobel Peace Prize. I'll tell you why: Everyone is mad for 'Obamamania' (Barack and Michelle Obama). I could be absolutely wrong. Why is it that we never hear any more news on "Brangelina" (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie), "TomKat" (Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes) or 'Bennifer' (Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez/Garner)? Check that idea with a real economist, though. I remember it being suggested to me by someone long ago (and do not trust this, because my memory often twists things) that if the government should find some way to pay off all it's debt, that would put so much money into the economy that inflation would go through the roof. ![]() When policies like decreasing taxes are applied, there is less money for paying down debt or funding things that are legally required for the government to provide, so debt goes up. ![]() OR presidents can promote ideas that yield more government income by increasing taxes, which pay down the debt. Presidents can set up the economy to reduce borrowing and increase income by promoting the kinds of economic activities that yield more taxes (government income) which can be applied to paying down the debt. The debt has "been there" all along, and it grows when the government borrows money to fund programs that cannot be covered by income from taxes and fees. A president does not get the nation out of debt. ![]()
